J.F.R. Coates was born in England, but moved to Australia when he was a teenager, where he currently lives with his husband and two children (also known as cats). He was a lover of books and reading from a young age, and eventually found a voice with his own stories. Authors such as Robin Hobb, Neil Gaiman, and Philip Pullman provided the inspiration needed, especially in the genres of fantasy and science fiction. He has currently self-published a fantasy trilogy and a sci-fi tetralogy. His stories tend to focus on non-human characters, especially dragons and gryphons.
